I hoooope they call me on a missioooon!

After 3 (yes THREE) loooong weeks of looking in the mail box only to find that my heart was crushed with disappointment, IT FINALLY CAME!!!! I couldn't believe my eyes. Unfortunately my parents were in a movie so I couldn't open it until they got back. I was forced to do nothing but stare hopelessly at this envelope for 3 hours! Torture I tell you!

I was shaking real bad when it was time to open my call. I must admit that I jumped ahead and saw where I was called to before I read it out loud. This was my reaction to it before anyone else knew.

Dear Sister Alston:

You are hereby called to serve as a full time missionary for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. You are assigned to labor in the Guatemala Retalhuleu Mission!!
Your primary assignment is to labor as a Mission Nurse Specialist!!!!! You should report to the Provo Missionary Training Center on Wednesday, October 20, 2010. You will prepare to preach the gospel in the Spanish language.

In case you couldn't tell, I am VERY excited!! I can't even wait to leave! No, I'm not quite sure what being a "mission nurse specialist" includes but I guess I will find out in 3 and 1/2 weeks. GUATEMALA HERE I COME!!!!

Once Upon A......4 Months Ago

At the birth of this blog, I felt it would be appropriate to start with a large life event that changed my life as I know it. Yup! Graduation/ nursing certification! After 2 years of prerequisites and 2 grueling years of nursing school, I now have the official title of Kami Alston, RN.

Although I will miss all of my dear dear friends at EAC...

Some of my FAVORITE roommates.

Clinicals at Mercy Gilbert
I just might not miss the hectic life of a nursing student.

I felt sooo blessed to have my entire family
there to support me. I could
not ask for a better family. This is at my
"nursing pinnng ceremony".
Sam and I
(notice the stethoscope-yes I
did wear it
the whole time)
My roomates (both nurses) who
graduated with me!!
I couldn't truly be happy about my graduation; of course, because I still had the NCLEX (nursing certification) test looming in the back of my extremely overwhelmed brain. I was soooo scared to take the test I almost peed my pants. I mean...who wouldn't be intimidated by taking a test in a building like this??

No worries though, I passed the test (BEFORE I TURNED 21) and became a Registered Nurse on June, 15th, 2010. Woooohooo!

Baby Blog

Well I did it!! I took the blogging plunge. I am happy to announce that I am the proud mother of a brand new baby blog!! Although I only have about 30 days with it, I'm sure it will bring me countless hours of entertainment. Oh wait....it already has!

Since I am a little behind on this trend, I will have to fill you in on my life starting about 4 months ago. Bet you can't wait to see where this story begins huh?! Yeah, me neither.
